FARON YOUNG IS ONE OF THE GREATEST HIT MAKERS IN COUNTRY MUSIC. BETWEEN 1953 AND 1989 HE CARTED 59 TUNES ON THE BILLBOARD COUNTRY MUSIC CHART. FARON WAS BORN IN SHREVEPORT, LOUISIANA ON FEBRUARY 25, 1932. HIS FIRST HIT SINGLE RECORD WAS “GOIN’ STEADY” IN JANUARY OF 1953. IT BECAME A #2 HIT ON THE BILLBOARD CHART.

“LOVE HAS FINALLY COME MY WAY” CHARTED ON AUGUST 5, 1957 ON CAPITOL RECORDS (CAPITOL 3753) IT BECAME A #12 HIT ON THE BILLBOARD CHART. MANY YEARS AGO WHEN I MET FARON AT A CONCERT OUTSIDE OF SYRACUSE, NEW YORK, I MENTIONED TO HIM THAT ONE OF MY FAVORITE TUNES OF HIS WAS “LOVE HAS FINALLY COME MY WAY”. HE LAUGHED AND SAID..”BACK IN MY ROCK AND ROLL DAYS”. HE HAD A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR AND WE SPENT SOME TIME CHATTING ABOUT MUSIC. HE WAS A NICE MAN WHO REALLY ENJOYED HIS FANS AND THE MUSIC.

THE “B” SIDE OF THE SINGLE RECORD WAS THE BEAUTIFUL BALLAD “MOONLIGHT MOUNTAIN”. WHY THIS TUNE NEVER CHARTED AND BECAME A HUGE HIT IS A MYSTERY. I’M SURE YOU WILL ENJOY BOTH SIDES OF THIS WONDERFUL RECORD FROM 1957. FARON DIED IN DECEMBER OF 1996 OF A SELF-INFLICTED GUNSHOT WOUND, AT THE AGE OF 64. THE YOUNG SHERIFF AS HE WAS CALLED WAS ALSO THE PUBLISHER OF THE MUSIC CITY NEWS MAGAZINE IN NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE.

HOPE THAT YOU WILL ENJOY THESE TWO GREAT SIDES, SUNG BY ONE OF COUNTRY MUSIC’S BEST..FARON YOUNG

TILL THE NEXT TIME–JOE (JOE T)

SONNY JAMES IS ONE OF COUNTRY MUSIC’S GREATEST CHART ARTISTS. HE HAS CHARTED 72 HIT SINGLE RECORDS ON THE BILLBOARD COUNTRY MUSIC CHART BEGINNING IN 1953 WITH “THAT’S ME WITHOUT YOU” AND OF COURSE HIS GREATEST HIT OF ALL “YOUNG LOVE” IN 1956.
THE TUNES FEATURED HERE DID NOT CHART. “KATHLEEN” AND “WALK TO THE DANCE” ON CAPITOL RECORDS WERE RELEASED IN 1957. WHY FEATURE THEM? I BOUGHT THE 45RPM RECORD IN 1957 AND PLAYED IT ON MY PHONOGRAPH OVER AND OVER AND HAVE NEVER GOT TIRED OF THIS GREAT RECORD. WHY IT NEVER CHARTED? I DON’T KNOW, BUT WHEN IT IS PLAYED ON MY RADIO PROGRAM….MY AUDIENCE ENJOYS IT.
GIVE THIS GREAT RECORD A LISTEN, I THINK YOU WILL LIKE IT ALSO.

TILL THE NEXT TIME—JOE (JOE T)
