Hi, Melissa Manchester was born in the Bronx, New York on February 15, 1951. She is an adult contemporary singer/composer. She studied songwriting under Paul Simon and was a former backup singer for Bette Midler.
She hit it big in 1975 with her fabulous hit recording of “MIDNIGHT BLUE”, which became a #6 Billboard Hot 100 hit and a #1 Adult Contemporary hit. In 1978 she was back in the Top 10 on the Hot 100 with “DON’T CRY OUT LOUD”, it remained on the pop chart for 23 weeks. Her biggest record charted in May of 1982, with her recording of “YOU SHOULD HEAR HOW SHE TALKS ABOUT YOU”, it would reach #5 on spend 25 weeks on the Hot 100. She won a Grammy Award for Pop Female Vocal.
Melissa Manchester has charted 16 records on the Billboard Pop Charts to date, seven that became Top 40 hits. In 2008 she recorded the single “THE POWER OF RIBBONS” with proceeds from the sale to benefit breast cancer research.
