ELVIS PRESLEY–“CAN’T HELP FALLING IN LOVE”

Hello,  It is as classic a love song as there has ever been…with a wonderful lyric and the beautiful voice of Elvis Presley…this song has melted the hearts of lovers since it first became a hit in 1961, CAN’T HELP FALLING IN LOVE, is Elvis Presley at his loving best.  The song was written by George David Weiss, Hugo Peretti and Luigi Creatore and was featured on Elvis’s, BLUE HAWAII album and in his motion picture of the same name.

The single record of CAN’T HELP FALLING IN LOVE on RCA-Victor Records made its Billboard Hot 100 debut on December 4, 1961.  Elvis’s hit wasted no time in becoming both a dance floor and radio classic.  Heavy air play led to this beautiful song racing up the Hot 100 and peaking at #2.  The single remained on the chart for two and a half months and sold in the millions.  Elvis was awarded another “Gold Record”, one of many he would receive in his career.  The song crossed over the Atlantic and became a #1 hit on the British charts.  It became a #1 song on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, holding the #1 spot for 6 weeks.

CAN’T HELP FALLING IN LOVE, became Elvis’s closing song during the late 1960’s and 1970’s live performances.  It was sung live on his 1973 World Wide telecast, ALOHA FROM HAWAII.  Every 45rpm had a “B” side and Elvis’s was a rock song, also from Blue Hawaii, ROCK-A-HULA BABY.  It  reached #23 on the Hot 100 and remained on the chart for 9 weeks.

The Blue Hawaii motion picture soundtrack was Elvis Presley’s 14th album released on RCA Victor Records and is his biggest selling album, during his lifetime.  Blue Hawaii wasted not a moment of time as it climbed the Billboard Album chart all the way to #1.  The album spent 20 weeks at #1 and has been certified by the RIAA as triple platinum.  On April 29, 1997, RCA released a remastered and expanded version for compact disc, with eight bonus tracks.

CAN’T HELP FALLING IN LOVE, has been covered by many artists over the years including, Neil Diamond, UB40, Perry Como, Andy Williams, Michael Buble, Al Martino, Brenda Lee and on and on.  The ultimate recording belongs to the #1 singer of all time, Elvis Presley.  So, turn the lights down low and hold your special someone close, as Elvis sings his beautiful ballad from 1961.  That’s what dreams are made of…a classic song, the wonderful voice of Elvis Presley…they are living here in the, “Golden Era Of Rock And Roll”.
