LOST GOLD JUKEBOX–THE JIANTS–“TORNADO”

Hi,  The Jiants were an Indiana rock & roll band that recorded between 1957 and 1961.  Members included…Russ “Andy” Anderson-vocals…Jerry Hedges-guitar…Bill Lee Balsbaugh-piano…Ron Wolfe-drums and…Ray Unbarger-bass.  The group was from Marion, Indiana.  In 1959 they had a local hit with their recording of  TORNADO  on Claudra Records.  The flip side was  SHE’S MY WOMAN.

The song received global popularity in the 1980’s when it was released in the UK on the Northwood record label.  TORNADO  is today a rock and roll classic for the pioneering use of the “Kalamazoo” by the groups guitarist, Jerry Hedges.  The original single is a much sought after collector’s item and can fetch a hefty price to a collector.

  2. Hi to both! I was wondering if there’s any more Jiants material out there? Have looked all over the Internet. There’s a few tunes (not sure if they are still there) on myspace, but no CDs so far. Great tune, have loved this for years!! Thanks – Pascal
