#1 HIT RECORD ON AUGUST 4, 1956–THE PLATTERS–“MY PRAYER”

On August 4, 1956 The Platters charted the #1 hit record on all four Billboard music charts,  Best Sellers in Stores, Most Played By Disc Jockeys, Most Played in Juke Boxes and the Top 100.  The Platters million-seller,  MY PRAYER  remained the #1 hit record for 5 weeks and remained on the Top 100 chart for 23 weeks.  The single record would also become the #1 hit on the Billboard R&B chart for 2 weeks.

The Platters,  MY PRAYER  would be replaced at #1 by Elvis Presley and his double-sided multi-million seller,  DON’T BE CRUEL  and  HOUND DOG.
