Ronnie and The Hi-Lites are a Doo-Wop group from Jersey City, New Jersey. Members included, Ronnie Goodson-lead vocals, Sonny Caldwell, John Whitney, Stanley Brown and Kenny Overby. Ronnie Goodson was just 12 years old in 1962 when I WISH THAT WE WERE MARRIED became a hit record. The group was originally called The Cascades.
On March 31, 1962 their only Billboard Hot 100 hit record charted. Their big hit I WISH THAT WE WERE MARRIED on Joy Records climbed the chart to #16 and remained on the Hot 100 for 12 weeks. The flip side of the single TWISTIN’ AND KISSIN’ did not chart.

In August of 1963, they would chart another Billboard Bubbling Under The Hot 100 chart record, A SLOW DANCE. It would chart at #116 and be their last charted pop hit.
