QUICK FACT–GLEN CAMPBELL

Glen Campbell was born on April 22, 1936 in Delight, Arkansas.  Glen became a prolific studio musician playing guitar with The Champs in 1960, The Beach Boys in 1965, The Hondells in 1964 and other top recording acts.

He charted 75 Country hits and 42 Adult Contemporary hits between 1962 and 1993.  He also charted 36 Billboard Hot 100 hits between 1961 and 1981.  Two of his Hot 100 hits became #1 hit records…RHINESTONE COWBOY  in 1975 and  SOUTHERN NIGHTS  in 1977.  He was also in the movies…the classic “True Grit” with John Wayne and in the film “Norwood” and others.

He is ranked #36 for the decade of the 1970s and #84 All-Time by Joel Whitburn in his book…”Joel Whitburn’s Top Pop Singles, 12th Edition”.

His first charted Hot 100 hit was…TURN AROUND, LOOK AT ME-#62 in 1961.  His first Hot 100, Top 40 hit was…GENTLE ON MY MIND-#39 in 1968 and his first Hot 100, Top 10 hit was…WICHITA LINEMAN-#3 in 1968.  Glen Campbell is a member of the Country And Western Hall of Fame (2005).  CMA Male Vocalist Of The Year in 1968 and CMA Entertainer Of The Year in 1968.

He is one of the top recording artists of the, “GOLDEN EAR OF ROCK AND ROLL”.
