“LOST GOLD” ELVIS PRESLEY–“MEMORIES” / “CHARRO”

On March 22, 1969  RCA Victor Records released the follow-up to Elvis Presley’s million-seller…IF I CAN DREAM  a #12 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 along with the flip-side…EDGE OF REALITY. IF I CAN DREAM was from his NBC-TV Special,”Elvis”.  That follow-up record is the beautiful ballad…MEMORIES  also from his NBC-TV Special.

The song was written by Billy Strange and Mac Davis.  The single charted at #35 on the Hot 100, #56 on the C&W chart and #7 on the Easy-Listening chart.  It is one of Elvis’s finest ballads.  The flip-side of the single is…CHARRO.  It is from the 1969 movie of the same name starring Elvis.  Billy Strange and Mac Davis are the writers of this dramatic Elvis recording.  The Jordanaires and Hugo Montenegro’s Orchestra backed Elvis on this recording.  CHARRO  although a wonderful song, did not chart.

The “GOLDEN ERA OF ROCK AND ROLL” is proud to present both sides of this outstanding Elvis Presley recording…a piece of “Lost Gold” from 1969
