Don Rondo charted his Billboard Top 100 hit recording of WHITE SILVER SANDS on July 15, 1957.  The single record on the Jubilee Records label (5288) became a #7 hit on the pop chart.  The recording remained on the Top 100 for 19 weeks and sold over 1 million records.  Don also charted  TWO DIFFERENT WORLDS in 1956, this recording also sold a million copies.  The single record also on Jubilee Records (5256) just missed the Top 10, charting at #11.

Don would have just one more charted hit on the Billboard Top 100, it would be THERE’S ONLY YOU on Jubilee Records (5297) in October of 1957.  It would chart at #77.  WHITE SILVER SANDS was a very popular record in the summer of 1957 and was played on oldies radio long after it was off the charts.  It is was covered by Bill Black’s Combo, as an instrumental hit in 1960.  Their recording on Hi Records (2021) became a #9 hit in the spring of that year.  Don Rondo passed away in January of 2011 at the age of 81.

Lost Gold for sure, but not forgotten…Joe Troiano’s Blog…”The Golden Era Of Rock And Roll” is proud to present this Top 10 hit for you to enjoy….
