images (59)200px-Ricky_Nelson_freeblogRICKY NELSON BECAME RICK NELSON ON HIS 1961 INPERIAL SINGLE…”A WONDER LIKE YOU”/”EVERLOVIN'” (IMPERIAL 5770).  IN 1963 HE CHARTED HIS FIRST HIT SINGLE RECORD FOR HIS NEW LABEL, DECCA RECORDS…”YOU DON’T LOVE ME ANYMORE (AND I CAN TELL)”/”I GOT A WOMAN”.  BOTH SIDES CHARTED ON THE BILLBOARD HOT 100, YOU DON’T LOVE ME ANYMORE…CHARTED AT #47 AND I GOT A WOMAN AT #49.  IT WAS HIS THIRD DECCA SINGLE THAT BECAME A TOP 20 HIT…THE CLASSIC…”FOOLS RUSH IN” JUST MISSED THE TOP 10, CLIMBING TO #12 AND REMAINED ON THE HOT 100 FOR 13 WEEKS.  THE SINGLE (DECCA 31533), A WELL WORN STANDARD, RECEIVED A ROCKIN’ TREATMENT FROM RICK AND FEATURED A GREAT GUITAR SOLO FROM THE LEGENDARY, JAMES BURTON.  RICK’S VOCAL WAS PURE MAGIC THE SUCCESS OF THE RECORD, LEAD RICK TO RECORD A FEW OTHER STANDARDS AS SINGLE RECORDS.

THE FLIP SIDE OF THE SINGLE RECORD WAS…”DOWN HOME”…IT TOO FLIRTED WITH THE HOT 100 BUT SETTLED FOR THE BILLBOARD BUBBLING UNDER THE HOT 100 CHART AT #126.  RICK’S NEXT SINGLE…”FOR YOU” WOULD BECOME HIS FIRST, TOP 10 HIT FOR DECCA RECORDS, AT #6, CHARTING IN DECEMBER OF 1963.  IT WOULD ALSO BE HIS LAST TOP 10 SINGLE UNTIL…”GARDEN PARTY” #6 IN 1972.

WE HOPE YOU WILL ENJOY RICK NELSON SINGING BOTH SIDES OF HIS 1963 HIT…”FOOLS RUSH IN”  AND  “DOWN HOME”….GREAT MUSIC FROM THE…”GOLDEN ERA OF ROCK AND ROLL”.

TILL THE NEXT TIME—JOE
