SONG OF THE DAY–THE SCHOOLBOYS–“PLEASE SAY YOU WANT ME”

JOE T'S SODA SHOP (JOE TROIANO'S BLOG)

The Schoolboys charted just one hit on the Billboard Top 100 and that was in 1957, the record is…SHIRLEY  on Okeh Records.  The single charted on February 16, 1957 and charted at #91.

The R&B vocal group from Harlem, New York featured, Leslie Martin-lead, James Edwards, Roger Hayes, James McKay and Renaldo Gamble.  The Schoolboys style was similar to Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers.

It’s the flip-side of that single that has become a doo-wop classic:  PLEASE SAY YOU WANT ME  never charted but fans of doo-wop music have made this song “timeless”.  The “GOLDEN ERA OF ROCK AND ROLL” is proud to present this wonderful recording by The Schoolboys from 1957.

Please Say You Want Me

Till the next time—Joe
